What an unforgettable evening! We were overjoyed to welcome over 300 guests to The Annual Gala of The Bridge MCP, hosted by my great and awesome sister and best friend, Annesa Ali who serves with great distinction and honor as Director of Special Projects at the Bridge. Annesa, with her great personality, wisdom and with truly set the tone for a wonderful, enjoyable and memorable holiday extravaganza.

The spirit of the evening was set with powerful prayers led by Bishop Ebony Kirkland, myself and Hassan Bakiriddin, followed by a beautiful Menorah lighting ceremony. We were honored to have community leaders Dr. Sima Karetnaya and Lana GL joined by the Hon. Mayor of North Miami, Dr. Alix Desulme, to lead us in this tradition. 🕯️

The room was moved by the stories of NYS Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and Aleks Kuravski. Through their courage in the face of unimaginable loss, we celebrated the passage of two historic pieces of legislation:

Spearheaded by Council Member Farah N. Louis and Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, these bills are vital lifelines that will protect and save the lives of children across our state. 🙏

Special gratitude to Debbie Louis, Executive Assistant to Governor Kathy Hochul and to the Hon. Eric Gonzalez, Brroklyn District Attorney for their words of support for the victims of crime and those facing financial hardship in our Empire State.

In conclusion, I want everyone to take a moment. Close your eyes. Can you imagine a world without The Bridge? Can you imagine our community without this sanctuary of connection? Where would we be without the unity we’ve built together?

In a world that often feels divided, we realize just how vital this space truly is. We owe this reality to our highly respected and illustrious brother, founder, leader, and friend: Mark Meyer Appel.

EID CELEBRATION AT THE BRIDGE WITH FIDE AND THE KASHMIR ALLIANCE

Over 300 people attended the Eid Al Fitr Celebration at The Bridge Multicultural Project on Flatbush Av on Saturday May 6,2023 With a incredible and unprecedented turnout. The event was sponsored by F.I.D.E Foundation for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity led by Professor Farhat Saba, THE BRIDGE MULTICULTURAL PROJECT led by Mark Meyer Appel AND THE KASHMIR AMERICAN ALLIANCE led by Sagihr Khan who 
welcomed the crowd with warm welcoming remarks and extended warm thank you to all those who have made this event phenomenal and successful and all the collaborators, sponsors, and partners; Khalid Moghul, Safoora Waseem, Shabana Hussain, Aamir Abbas and Soud Bensamem.

The event bought many new faces (Youth and Women) from the diverse communities through their engagement and participation.
 
All there to encourage and support us. This is called ensuring diversity and inclusion. The Sponsors were elated that the entire community, came together to show the world that together we are stronger and united as one.
 
Around 20-plus city and state officials, organization heads, and community stakeholders were there to encourage and show support and address the gathering which included Congresswoman Yvette Clark 9th District of New York, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, New York State Senator Roxanne Persaud, Assembly Member Lester Chang District 49, Councilwoman Farah Louis District 45, Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse District 46. Lisa White se Haskin as well as Rabbi Shlomo Segal and representatives of Brooklyn Borough President Anthony Reynosa and District Attorney Eric Gonzales
 
The religious festival Eid al-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world. In the United States, Eid al-Fitr 2023 begins on the evening of Thursday, April 20 and ends on the evening of Friday, April 21.
 
Also known as the “Lesser Eid,” Eid al-Fitr commemorates the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. An occasion for special prayers, family visits, gift-giving and charity, it takes place over one to three days, beginning on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month in the Islamic calendar.
 
Eid al Fitr is a significant festival in the Islamic calendar. This holiday marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. During this time, Muslims not only celebrate the end of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting but also thank Allah for the Quran, which was first revealed towards the end of Ramadan.

Almost 300 members of the diverse communities have showered us with their love and support. Which is incredible and unprecedented. Thanks to almighty Allah for this success. Around 20-plus city and state officials, organization heads, and community stakeholders were there to encourage and support us. This is called ensuring diversity and inclusion for sure guys and we have worked hard for this. Thank you, very much Pakistani community, for showing the world that together we are stronger and Pakistani women are not less than others in taking the lead to gather the community on one platform. In unity there is strength. This is exactly what we learn through the experience of Ramadan and Eid; to practice our faith, gain spiritual strength, and reinforce the values of unity, compassion, generosity, and self-discipline. Islam is the religion of equality and peace. In the eyes of Almighty Allah, all people are equal, the only distinction which Allah recognizes is the distinction in piety and the only principle that Allah applies is the principle of goodness and spiritual excellence. Let’s try to practice goodness and spread love.

On April 2, 2023 Hundreds of people from diverse religions and ethnic background gathered at the Bridge Multicultural Project to pray, reflect as we celebrate Passover, Ramadan and Easter, and garner support for a united community standing together as one.
 
Mark Meyer Appel, Founder of the Bridge Multicultural Project and Chair of the event in a emotional address brought special words of greetings and comfort. During his address he addressed his utmost gratitude to the sponsors and collaborating organizations who have been working to to ensure that we the people of New York stay united and stay strong as Children of of one God. 
 
This event is historic as it brings back religious and community leaders from different faiths together. Uniting all faiths Muslims Jewish and Christians shows the unity our community The Bridge Multicultural and Advocacy Project Annual United Interfaith Celebration is a yearly event to celebrate Ramadan Passover Easter  A time of reflection and building a strong united bond among our diverse communities.

A great Humanitarian Day in Brooklyn at The Bridge Multicultural Project and led by Council Member Farah N. Louis and Assemblywoman Roxanne Persaud working closely with The Office of Mayor Eric Adams as we launch our mission to deliver essential clothing and supplies to the newly arrived refugees. Refugee families arriving here in N.Y.C are fighting every day to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Continued support will help provide clothing and emergency supplies to children and families arriving from conflict-affected countries .Councilwoman Farah Louis thanked the community and Mayor Eric Adams who organized a strong response in dealing with the urgent need to ensure that all the needs of the refugees are met.

NEW YORKERS UNITE IN ASSISTING THE VICTIMS OF THE BRONX FIRE

On Thursday, January 13th New York”s diverse leadership came together to donate thousands of blankets and food supplies to needy families today supply drive to the victims of the Bronx fire. The day began with prayers and greetings by Reverend Edward-Richard Hinds, from THE GOD SQUAD, and Councilmember Farah Louis.

The diverse coalition spent the day in the Bronx with all of our Brooklyn”s Diverse leadership Organized by THE BRIDGE MULTICULTURAL PROJECT and its founder Mark Meyer Appel THE 67TH PRECINCT CLERGY COUNCIL “THE GOD SQUAD”, PASWO, HAITIAN NURSES NETWORK, ELITE LEARNERS, SHMIRA SAFETY PATROL, NEW YORK RESCUE RESPONSE TEAM, RAMAZ SCHOOL LED BY RABBI CHAIM STEINMETZ and JCC OF MARINE PARK and ATIA SHAHNAZ, SAMIRA NOOR, CAMARA JACKSON MENDY MIROCZNIK, DAVID HESKIEL, DAVID SPIR, DR MARIE PAUL. A special thanks to COUNCILWOMAN FARAH LOUIS and to the Office of the Mayor and Pastor Gil Monrose Special Assistant to Mayor Adams for all their effort in making this drive possible supplies were delivered to the Islamic Center at 371 East 166TH STREET for further distribution to the families in need…


SHEIK MUSA DRAMMEH of The Islamic Center spoke warmly and with strong emotion thanked the coalition for Its enormous support during a very difficult time New York State Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia from the Bronx welcomed the coalition and thanked the group wholeheartedly on behalf of the entire community for the support. Mark Meyer Appel organizer of this coalition expressed with deep emotion of New York diverse community committed to all of the victims. Bringing together Muslim, Jewish and other ethnic groups show what we as a community stand for and how we are committed to helping each other in times of need

On Sunday Dec 12 2001 Over 300 persons attended the annual ‘UNITY IN ACTION’ HOLIDAY PARTY at the THE BRIDGE. Councilwoman Farah Louis was the Honored Chairperson of the event. and introduced Mark Meyer Appel Founder of THE BRIDGE, Mark welcomed all the guests and expressed his appreciation for all the hard work and Multicultural programs held at the BRIDGE IN 2021.From the Blood Drives, Domestic Violence Programs, Food Pantries to the Haitian Emergency Supply Drive as well as many more successful programs. The program began with the AWARDS CEREMONY honoring CONGRESSWOMAN YVETTE CLARKE, DR MONALISA FERRARI and KELLY MUSE.

DELIVERING her passionate remarks Congresswoman Clarke expressed her gratitude to THE BRIDGE for the honor. The Congresswoman shared her long time commitment and friendship towards the BRIDGE and pledged to continue the battle for equality for all.

As the conclusion of the award presentations the large crowd were treated to a buffet of hot kosher and halal food. They then mingled, conversed and danced together with Multicultural music led by Felina Backer ,Attendees in The room were filled with joy and hope for a even stronger bond of unity as we enter the new year 2022.

Steven Saperstein was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach. Steven and his wife Elina are the proud parents of two daughters Rebecca and Emma​.
​
As a father, husband, educator, and community organizer, Steven promoted civic engagement that aids thousands of youth and seniors in Southern Brooklyn. Steven is Co-founder of the Shorefront Coalition, where his community efforts include combating the opioid epidemic, improving our quality of life, hosting informational seminars, hosting school supply drives, and coordinating food deliveries to support those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Steven’s parents, Brian and Susan, and younger brother, Bruce, are deaf. This had a profound effect on Steven, who became fluent in American Sign Language as a young child in order to communicate and advocate for his family. Steven works as a special educator to empower students with disabilities (and their families), to give them the same opportunities for success that all Americans are entitled.

He attended P.S. 206, P.S. 100, and Midwood High School, received a B.A. in Metropolitan Studies from New York University, and a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. After getting his law degree, he earned an M.A. in Deaf & Hard of Hearing Education from Hunter College (CUNY) and a M.A. in School Leadership from Touro College.

As Councilman Steve will deliver for our community. We are confident he will be an excellent representative who will work hard to preserve our values.

We urge you to go out and vote for Steve Saperstein on November 2, 2021. Some prior elections have been won by a margin of only a hundred or so votes. Your vote counts.

BROOKLYN’S INTERFAITH COMMUNITY UNITES TO SUPPORT HAITI

Hundreds of people from diverse religions and ethnic backgrounds gathered at the Bridge Multicultural Project to pray, reflect and garner support for the victims of the August 14, 2021 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Dr. Monalisa Ferrari, host, welcomed all the participating diverse organizations in New York working together to assist the people of Haiti during this crisis.
 
Mark Meyer Appel, founder of the Bridge Multicultural Project and Chair of the event in an emotional address brought special words of greetings and comfort. During his address, he addressed his utmost gratitude to the sponsors and collaborating organizations who have been mobilizing towards the relief efforts to ensure that the people of Haiti receive the help that they need.
 
This event is historic as it brings back religious and community leaders like it did for the devastating 2010 earthquake that took place in the western part and hurricane Matthew from 2016. Greetings were extended by our elected officials ranking from Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Council Member Matthieu Eugene, Council Member Farah Louis, and Council Member Elect Rita Joseph.

Stepping up to lend comfort and assistance to those impacted by the recent earthquake in Haiti is simply the right thing to do. The Jewish community sadly knows all too well what it is to stand alone. We, therefore, are obligated to be there for any community in need said Rabbi Bob Kaplan Director of The Jewish Community Relations Council and co-sponsor of the event.
 
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke in a very emotional speech strongly applauded this interfaith unity drive for Haiti. Working together as a unified community we can change the world and make it a better place
Strong support and prayers for this drive was delivered by Councilman Mathieu Eugene, Councilwoman Farah Louis, and Councilwoman elect Rita Joseph.
 
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and Councilwoman Farah Louis presented citations to THE MED-GIVE FOUNDATION and THE EYES FOR OPTICS GROUP for their contribution of urgent medical supplies to this historic relief project. Awards were accepted on behalf of these companies by Bill Tingling and Rabbi Waldman.

There is no doubt that this is the most consequential election of our time. Our city is beset with a panoply of serious problems that directly affect the quality of life for all New Yorkers. As such, we need leaders who have the courage, vision and experience to effect that kind of positive change that is required for the preservation of this great City.

As we approach the final week of NYC election campaign we are so happy and elated to wholeheartedly support and endorse the election of Eric Adams as our next Mayor, Corey Johnson for Controller, and Rita Joseph for Council of the 40th Council District.

Borough President Eric Adams and his staff has shown our City strong and tenacious leadership, For this we will forever be grateful. With Eric Adams leadership the greatest city in the world will once again shine in glory.

Eric is running for Mayor because he knows we can have justice and public safety at the same time – and public safety is the prerequisite to prosperity. We need a leader who meets the moment. New York City’s comeback starts with electing Eric Adams as our next mayor.

Corey Johnson As Speaker of the City Council, Corey Johnson delivered on-time and balanced budgets three years in a row and managed a staff of nearly 900, including a team of financial analysts and economists. During the COVID-19 crisis, Corey led the City Council through one of the worst budget crises in our history and preserved millions in funding for critical City services and support for the most vulnerable New Yorkers. Corey can hit the ground running to ensure that every dollar in the City’s budget is being used effectively. As the City continues to cope with the devastating effects of COVID-19, we need an experienced manager as Comptroller. There’s no time for a learning curve.

Rita Joseph After immigrating to the U.S. from Haiti in her youth, Rita became civically engaged and began her life of advocacy. While growing up in Flatbush, Rita quickly recognized the power of activism. At just 19 years old, she organized her first rally with a group she founded, Haitian Enforcement Against Racism. Rita has deep roots in the community she is running to represent as City Council Member of District 40. She is an active member of the Holy Innocent Catholic Church and has organized numerous community events like toy drives, community street fairs, and after-school programs with the support of local elected officials like Council Member Mathieu Eugene, Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte, and State Senator Kevin Parker.
